武満徹

武満徹 (1930–1996) was a Japanese composer known for blending Western modernist techniques with Japanese musical sensibilities. He wrote orchestral, chamber, solo and film music, and his work is often noted for its careful attention to timbre, use of silence and spatial effects, and delicate, coloristic orchestration. Drawing on traditional Japanese sounds alongside contemporary Western practices, his music commonly emphasizes atmosphere and texture.
