3rd Bass

3rd Bass was an American hip hop trio formed in 1987 and active until 1992, consisting of rappers MC Serch and Pete Nice and DJ Richie Rich. Their music paired sample-based, boom-bap production with direct, often satirical lyricism and occasional social commentary. Emerging from the New York scene, they were a visible white hip hop act of the late 1980s and early 1990s and engaged with contemporary debates about authenticity and identity in the genre.
